The Assessment Program exists to serve adult learners with basic assessments related to success in attaining employment. Our program serves clients of the West Virginia Works program. We are pleased to partner with WV Works to work toward higher employment for needy families, removing as many barriers as possible.
The TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) is a foundational tool that is used to identify strengths and weaknesses in a student's education level. A comprehensive screening related to Learning Needs includes medical and education history, attempting to identify needed referrals as well as any obstacles to job and training placement. An Emotional Health Inventory is used to identify and address obstacles related to mental health.
The WorkKeys assessment is an exciting tool for job-seekers. Good scores on this test are used to enhance a resume with certification bearing the signature of the Governor and the state seal. More and more employers both in West Virginia and nationally are recognizing the value and importance of an educated, well-trained work force. A growing number of employers are using the WorkKeys certification as a baseline for who to consider for job openings. We're thrilled to be able to offer this certification to adult learners who have worked hard and studied long to be prepared for these opportunities.
